Mariana Meerhoff

Professor, Department of Ecology and Environmental Management, Centro Universitario Regional del Este, Universidad de la República

Her research activities focus on understanding the community and ecosystemic responses of inland waters to global changes, in particular to climate warming and land use changes. Dr Meerhoff has worked on shallow lakes, reservoirs, streams, and recently on artificial rural ponds, whose numbers are dramatically increasing in South America to boost food production. The methodological approaches include meta-data analysis, field studies, and experiments at different spatio-temporal scales, from microcosm to drainage basin scale.
