Aims and Scope
Inland Waters is the peer-reviewed, scholarly outlet for original papers that advance science within the framework of the International Society of Limnology (SIL). The journal promotes understanding of inland aquatic ecosystems and their management. Subject matter parallels the content of SIL Congresses, and submissions based on presentations are encouraged.
All aspects of physical, chemical, and biological limnology are appropriate, as are papers on applied and regional limnology. The journal also aims to publish articles resulting from plenary lectures presented at SIL Congresses and occasional synthesis articles, as well as issues dedicated to a particular theme, specific water body, or aquatic ecosystem in a geographical area. Publication in the journal is not restricted to SIL members.
As a SIL member, you are entitled to full access to articles published in Inland Waters. For full access to Inland Waters articles, make sure that you have logged in successfully to the SIL website before accessing the Taylor&Francis site.
Publication charges and Open Access
SIL members are exempt from paying page charges and can publish in Inland Waters free of charge. For non-members, SIL charges USD 75/page for publishing in Inland Waters. To enjoy this exemption, the first author has to be a SIL member. If the first author is not a member, he/she is invited to join SIL and enjoy the exemption.
Color figures will be reproduced in color in your online article free of charge. If it is necessary for the figures to be reproduced in color in the print version, a charge will apply.
SIL members are eligible for a substantial discount on publishing their Inland Waters articles as Open Access (Gold option). The Charge (by Taylor & Francis) for SIL members is USD 2,065 per article (irrespective of the number of pages per article) as opposed to USD 2,950 for those who are not SIL members. To enjoy this discount, the first author has to be a SIL member. If the first author is not a member, he/she is invited to join SIL and enjoy the exemption.
Our journal also gives authors the option to publish open access via Taylor&Francis Open Select publishing program, making it free to access online immediately on publication. Many funders mandate publishing your research open access; you can check open access funder policies and mandates here.
