Education Committee

Activities

The Education Committee aims to promote limnology and its relevance to society, as well as, the fundamental questions in
aquatic ecology. Considering SIL’s mission, the strategies and priorities of this committee are to:
1. Facilitate knowledge transfer to promote limnology to a wider audience and empower the researchers of tomorrow.
2. Communicate the value of freshwater, its scarcity, and its relevance to health and human well-being.
3. Foster and support international scientific networks of inland water researchers.
4. Provide an opportunity to students and ECRs, especially from emerging countries, to gain visibility and connect with
other researchers.

We produce educational material for SIL student and ECR members and for the larger global limnologist community. We organise workshops and seminars, support the work of SIL Congress organisers, create content for students and search for open access educational tools. The Committee is chaired by -Mariana Meerhoff (VP) and she is supported by Barbara Barta (ECR rep.) along with the current Committee members. Now we are looking for people to join the Committee and help realise our goals.
