Tropical Asia is a dynamic region rich in freshwater features from its insular and continental lands. To evoke the SIL Asian Tropical Inland Waters Working Group’s mission of promoting the management and preservation of these ecosystems, the logo is shaped like a wave: the movement and flow of water to represent progress. The globe that comprises the upper portion of the logo and exhibits this region is referencing the same colors of the International Society of Limnology‘s current logo. The lower portion, which evokes movement, represents four facets of limnology: Physical, Chemical, Biological and finally, Applied Limnology, all which are actively studied in this region and working in tandem to move the “wave”.
