Aims and Scope
Inland Waters is the peer-reviewed, scholarly outlet for original papers that advance science within the framework of the International Society of Limnology (SIL). The journal promotes understanding of inland aquatic ecosystems and their management. Subject matter parallels the content of SIL Congresses, and submissions based on presentations are encouraged.
All aspects of physical, chemical, and biological limnology are appropriate, as are papers on applied and regional limnology. The journal also aims to publish articles resulting from plenary lectures presented at SIL Congresses and occasional synthesis articles, as well as issues dedicated to a particular theme, specific water body, or aquatic ecosystem in a geographical area. Publication in the journal is not restricted to SIL members.
As a SIL member, you are entitled to full access to articles published in Inland Waters. For full access to Inland Waters articles, make sure that you have logged in successfully to the SIL website before accessing the Taylor&Francis site.
Publication charges and Open Access
SIL members are exempt from paying page charges and can publish in Inland Waters free of charge. For non-members, SIL charges USD 75/page for publishing in Inland Waters. To enjoy this exemption, the first author has to be a SIL member. If the first author is not a member, he/she is invited to join SIL and enjoy the exemption.
Color figures will be reproduced in color in your online article free of charge. If it is necessary for the figures to be reproduced in color in the print version, a charge will apply.

Your research funder or your institution may require you to publish your article open access. Visit our Author Services website to find out more about open access policies and how you can comply with these.
You will be asked to pay an article publishing charge (APC) to make your article open access. This cost may be covered by your institution or funder. Use our APC finder to view the APC for this journal.
A SIL member who is the first author on a manuscript submitted to Inland Waters that is subject to APC for open access is eligible for a discount on APC.
